Guatemala Medical Mission Trip

Hello! Our names are Sarah Hightower and Hannah Henderson. We are currently freshmen at the University of Miami and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We are both pre-med students majoring in biochemistry/biology on the path to pursure medical careers. We have created this page to hopefully fund a service trip to Guatemala through VIDA Voltunteer during our spring break this coming March. VIDA Volunteer’s Medical Program is designed to help impoverished communities in Central America, while giving volunteers around the world an interactive, cultural, engaging experience that will help them become better professionals and life-long volunteers. This trip will give much needed healthcare to those less fortunate as well act as an incredible learning experience for us as volunteers. We would be so grateful for the opportunity to go on this trip and help those in need, build relationships with people from other cultures, shadow physicians, and learn the basics of patient care as we are both aspiring doctors! We will have hands on, one-on-one clinical experience and the help we will give would otherwise not be provided for the severly impoverished people we will face.Here is a breakdown of where the all the money is going(all x2 as both of us plan to go):
- $1600 to VIDA
- $50 travel insurance(required by VIDA)
- $445 airfare
- $200 entry fee to the program
- money for meals not provided by VIDA

Since this trip was planned on such short notice, we have been given some leniency on money deadlines. Ideally, each of us need to have $1100 in to the program by March 1st at the VERY LATEST.  Please donate what you can, every dollar helps!
