Saving Percy from FIP

Donation protected

As you all know that I recently became a cat Momma. I never thought I would ever have a cat but after taking care of my brothers cat for a week I realized how easy and lovable cats can be, I decided to start to look for one.  It was tough at first because I wanted a small fluffy beautiful Kitten, But so did everybody else. I put in so many different applications and talked to so many different people and hadn’t  heard anything for a couple weeks, because everyone else was looking for a cute fluffy kitten. Then I heard back from the place who had this beautiful gray kitten Carly and I fell in love with her when I saw her.So on November 18 I rescued Carly. Whom I changed to the name to Faith. I bought so Many different beds, scratching posts, toys and treats for my girl and had it all ready for when she came home with me. What a beauty my girl is  I was so happy to have her she was super playful, sweet, vocal, loved to purr so funny with her toys. She was a perfect way to end a pretty crazy 2020.

At the beginning Of January this year I noticed something was wrong with Faith and wanted to bring her in to see what was going on. The vet called me and first off shocked me with let me start by saying Faith is a BOY! What?!? How can my beautiful girl be a boy?!? I was in shock. But his personality didn’t change it was just having to get used to the pronouns I was used to using. It was hard at first to get used to saying him and he and not her and she.  But was still my same baby. I decided to name him Percy.

He he was treated for some things and seemed to be doing OK and then he started to get worse. He started not eating not cleaning himself not moving much at all not vocal anymore not playing and lost a lot of weight and became very bloated. The vet then told me that Percy probably has FIP which is usually fatal. Just a couple years ago it was a death sentence but now there is a medication that is a 90% cure for FIP in cats. It is not FDA approved so vets cannot give it to people and it’s hard to find and it’s super expensive. It is a long process but results are  seen almost immediately. I watched stories of cats that have been cured with this medication. It’s actually very similar to the COVID 19 vaccine.  I am devastated and I love him dearly and I’ve only had him for two short months and I want to do what I can to save him and this drug is the only option. I am asking anyone I know if they can help me by pitching in lwhatever they can to get my boy the medication he needs. That he can be back to his normal self. Thank you for anything you can do. I am heart broken. My boy is only 8 months old.
Thank you From Lindsey and Percy

****UPDATE*****

I just wanted to say thank you to everybody who has reached out with well wishes and prayers and has donated to my boy Percy. I started his treatment yesterday. The process is 84 days worth of injections that I will give him every day. Then there is an 84 day observation period. Throughout this process he will need 6 to 12 blood labs. He seems to be doing well today which is a great sign. Currently I have two weeks worth of medications and as long as he continues to get better I will continue the treatment.
