Chick's Surgery Fund

Meet Chick, our super sweet dog. Chick has been part of our family for 9 years, a loyal defender of the household, a foot warmer on cold nights, a playful fun companion who, even as a senior, people sometimes mistake for a puppy. She likes to clean kittens ears, swim in icy water, and she's got a special talent of sighing like an old lady that she's had since she was 2 months old. One of our favorite things about Chick, aside from her olympic quality air jumps, are her velvety floppy ears.

A few weeks ago she developed an ear hematoma , a difficult to treat problem because of the location in the flap of the ear. We spent a few hundred dollars trying to treat it without surgery, but the attempts failed and she had to get the surgery anyway. We don't have credit cards or a savings account to dip into and, like so many people we know, live paycheck to paycheck. We just spent most of our living expense money for the next few weeks on Chick's surgery. We've started this fund in the hopes of getting the cost of her surgery covered so we can still afford our other bills and usual living expenses.
