<div>DACA recipients across the country are being impacted by nationwide processing delays that have left many unable to renew their work authorization on time. As a result, some have been forced to step away from their jobs while their DACA renewal remains under review.

<div>Three months ago, Deysi became one of them. Immigration delays left her unable to continue working in her role as a program manager at a health center while her DACA renewal remains pending.

<div>The sudden loss of income can create significant challenges. For her, it came while her family was already navigating the impacts of deportation. After her father was deported in 2025, her mother made the decision to relocate to Mexico in early 2026 so they could reunite. What began as a nationwide DACA delay quickly became something much larger for her and the family members she supports.

<div>Following these changes, Deysi became the head of her household. She now cares for her sisters, including her youngest sister, who is 15 years old and has been deeply affected by the separation.

<div>Along with these new family responsibilities came new financial ones. Each day, she is balancing household expenses while also supporting her parents as they rebuild their lives in Mexico, and covering costs that include medical expenses after losing health insurance, as well as her sister's orthodontic care, which is no longer covered.

<div>We stand with Deysi during this time because, over the past five years, she has stood with others. In addition to caring for her family, she has been an integral part of the Human Rights Council of Oceanside (HRCO), where she has spent the past five years organizing alongside neighbors, supporting families, and building grassroots efforts that respond to community needs.

<div>Today, we have an opportunity to stand with Deysi. As a volunteer-led organization, HRCO is matching the first $1,000 donated to this fundraiser while her DACA renewal remains pending.

<div>La pérdida repentina de ingresos puede generar desafíos importantes para cualquier persona. En el caso de Deysi, ocurrió mientras su familia ya enfrentaba los efectos de la deportación.
