VU Judo Hurricane Relief Fund

Villanova University Judo has opened this GoFundMe in order to provide relief for VU Judo member Deyjah Foster.

Our friend and fellow Villanova student/VU Judo member Deyjah Foster is from St. Thomas.   Deyjah’s family lost everything because of hurricanes Irma and Maria - they lost their home, car, and possessions, and are struggling to obtain basic resources such as electricity and food.

Growing up on St. Thomas Deyjah decided to venture far from home to study chemical engineering at Villanova University.

As an active member of the VU community, Deyjah has pursued research in renewable energy and waste water treatment. Her work can be found in the FEMS journal publication, and has been presented at symposiums in Europe. She currently serves as President for the National Society of Black Engineers, a group that promotes academic and professional success for minorities in the field. In addition to being a leader in VU Judo, Deyjah also finds time active in the Society of Women Engineers, practice her flute, and learn foreign languages.

Deyjah’s family lost their home, their possessions, and are struggling to obtain basic resources such as electricity and food, after St. Thomas was devastated by hurricanes Irma and Maria.
