Michele & Brian Dexter Medical Fund

Michele and Brian were just married on August 19 and on September 7, while they were enjoying dinner on their honeymoon cruise in Alaska, Michele suffered a stroke.

Michele was airlifted by the Alaskan Coast Guard in a harrowing nighttime helicopter rescue operation where they were unable to land on the ship’s helipad. Michele was flown to the hospital in Sitka, AK and then onto Virginia Mason hospital in Seattle, WA. For safety reasons, Brian was not permitted to accompany her and had to remain on board the cruise ship until they came to port in Juneau where he got the fastest flight to Seattle.

Michele is doing well and beginning her recovery with Brian and her family by her side but may not be cleared by her doctors to travel back to Michigan for a few weeks.

Obviously, this has been a shocking series of events for these two and our hearts go out to them and their families as we wish Michele the best in her speedy recovery.

Michele and Brian are likely to incur some pretty heavy medical costs from the emergency rescue at sea, the lengthy hospital stay, and the upcoming rehabilitation and physical therapy. But your help and generosity can lighten this burden.
