Dexter the pug eye surgery

My 2 yr old Pug Dexter was told by our vet she has done all she can do and he needs to see a specialist to have his eye removed. It just won’t heal and we are at our wits end and tried everything. It will cost around $2,500. I know it hurts him and it tears my heart out.
