Dexter Defies Death !!!!

Donation protected
Hi! I'm Dexter. I am 8 years and 2 months old and I live with my Mammy, Bethany who is only 17; She adopted me. We are the very best of friends and do lots of fun things together, but on Tuesday 27th March 2018 our lives changed … this is my story …

Dexter and Bethany were on a walk near Easington Beach when Beth lost sight of Dexter in the long grass. A search quickly got underway and carried on until after midnight. Dexter wasn’t found and it was presumed that he had gone home; sadly this was not he case.

In the early hours of Wednesday morning Beth, two family friends and a volunteer from Lost & Hound K9 Capture Team searched the shoreline and spotted Dexter at the foot of a 130 foot cliff, he had fallen from the cliff and had lain there all night cold and injured.

The Fire Brigade attended to help us rescue Dexter because of the location where he was found and Dexter 's vet administered pain relief before the Fire Brigade carried Dexter across the rocks and up the coastal steps to safety.
He was then transferred to Wear Referrals to assess the extent of his injuries.

Unfortunately Dexter was in a very bad state with 2 broken front legs, a groin injury and cuts to his face.

After extensive tests and X-Rays it was found that Dexter had multiple breaks in both front legs and would require surgery on both legs if he was to survive, but these operations would come at a cost totaling £6,500.

Bethany at only 17yrs old was bereft as Dexter doesn’t have Pet Insurance and if the money could not be found, it seemed that her best friend would have to be put to sleep.

Beth knew that she had to do everything she could to help her best friend survive, she could not bear to be parted from him, so decided to cash in her whole life savings of £3000 to put towards his operations and care … but this still left a £3,500 shortfall.

Volunteers from Lost &Hound K9 Capture Team discussed all the options with with Beth and it was decided to set up a fundraising page for Dexter, especially as is he is already a local celebrity and has caused quite a stir in the local press and local news channels because of his defiance of death!

This brave boy has the sweetest of natures and he deserves the chance of a full recovery so he can have many more happy years with his young owner and best friend.

We are asking people if you can help our cause by donating anything at all Dexter and Bethany would be so very grateful. Every little bit raised will go to Dexter’s care and treatment so he can have the chance at a long, normal and happy life with his best friend Bethany.
Please can we ask that you share our appeal with all of your friends and we would like to thank you all for your help and support.
