Hi friends!
As many of you know, over the past 3+ years, I've had the privilege of working as a Birth & Postpartum Doula as well as Childbirth Educator. As a birth worker, I've had the opportunity of assisting families throughout their pregnancy, labor & delivery, and postpartum stages of parenthood. I have educated dozens of families on the natural and physiological process of labor through my work at a local birth center. I'm not sure I could ever find the words to describe the love and passion that I have for the work that I do, but I know that it brings me immense joy and purpose.
With the rise of maternal mortality, especially amongst Black & Brown women, I'm feeling more motivated than ever to move forward in my journey of birth work. Transitioning into the stage of life where many of my friends are ready to begin their family planning, I've often been told that they are waiting for me to become a midwife so that they can have someone that they feel comfortable with delivering their babies. While this, from my friends and family means the world to me, I also feel a sense of intense sadness that the healthcare system within our country has failed so many of us. Our society is in dire need of more Black midwives, doctors, doulas, and healthcare providers in all fields. I simply cannot sit by and wait for the change to happen. I have to be the change.
I have been accepted to study at the University of Pécs this coming fall and am asking for community support and mutual aid to cover the costs.
Tuition Fee- $6,089 per year (4-year program)
Supplies/Books- $2500
Moving Costs & Deposit on Accommodations- $4000
Total- $30,856
I want you all to know that with your help, I'll be able to change the lives of so many families on a daily basis doing what I love the most.
