Devi's Surgery and Hospitalization

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Dany. I'm a recent college graduate and currently working at Aurora St. Luke's as a RN. I got Devi in early July from MADACC. She's three years old and the most lovable, social dog. She fills my life with so much love and cuddles. I got her originally as an emotional support animal. I suffer from depression, anxiety, BPD, and OCD and at the time when I adopted her was in an outpatient program at Roger's for my mental health. I was in a really bad place and was struggling with suicidal ideation. She helps me significantly. I don't know what I would do without her. I immediately saw her and knew she had a permanent place in my heart. When I took her home, they were plenty of bumps in the road though. She suffered from severe separation anxiety and could not handle being left in a crate or any enclosed space. She was neglected, abused, and forced in containment from her prior life and like me, was struggling with her trauma. I loved her even more for it and knew I would never give up on her. We were finally able to get her to be alone in the house roaming free for a few hours when the unthinkable happened. While I was visiting a friend before she would be leaving the state for a month, on Saturday I got a call that while at the dog park, she had ingested some wood chips and was limping. They took her to the ER because she was very lethargic and just not her self. They did an X-ray of the abdomen and labs, but they didn't find anything. They made the assumption she had a soft tissue injury and I would follow-up with her vet on Monday. When I got home on Sunday, though, my step-dad was carrying Devi out of my house and explaining that she couldn't move her back legs at all. We immediately went to another ER, they got her on a stretcher, and she was taken away. Later on that evening, they gave us some of the worst news I've heard in my life. She had a spinal cord compression and they needed to do surgery ASAP. They told us the best outcome included months of PT before hopefully a full recovery. There would be a chance though that she would be paralyzed in both her legs, and not be able to control her bowel and bladder. No matter what happens though, I will support Devi whatever means necessary. Unfortunately, the surgery and hospitalization costs over $11,000 and that doesn't include the months of PT she will need. I have given my entire savings from college, my emergency savings, and what I could of my checking, and it still isn't enough. I'm in dire need of financial support so Devi can get the help she needs. I hate asking but for Devi I will do anything. She has a vet and is taken regularly, and I have her signed up for obedience classes and she has a personal trainer so I am prepared for the expenses. But this... this was the unthinkable. And it absolutely breaks my heart that Devi will never have the same life again no matter what happens. She was rescued from a terrible situation only to be brought into a loving home and then for this to happen... Please, please if you can donate anything, it is appreciated. Devi means everything to me and I can't lose her. She deserves the best treatment possible so help me help her to have that.
