Help with Medical Expenses- Devin

Donation protected
Hi,
My son Devin Polite is 28 years old and a hard working father of 2.  He has worked in the Medical IT field for 10 years.

In December he had laryngitis, or so he thought. He went to urgent care for medicine but it did not go away. He went to an Ear Nose and Throat specialist and found out his vocal cords were paralyzed.  This could be caused by a number of reasons. They did an x-ray- nothing showed. They did a CT scan of his neck and at the very top of his chest they saw a mass.    This mass was pressing on his vagus nerve and causing the paralysis of his vocal cords. At that time they did a pulmonary function test because it was becoming very difficult for him to breathe. His lungs were only working at about 60% of normal function.  They did a CT scan of full chest and found several more masses.  They also found in this scan that a tumor was compromising his phrenic nerve and paralyzing his left side of his diaphragm, this explains the difficulty breathing.  He is also experiencing a lot of pain in his neck and shoulder due to nerves being compressed by the tumors.

A PET scan was ordered and several masses in his chest are showing malignancy.   The pulmonary doctor is assuming at this point that we are dealing with lymphoma but nothing is for certain until the biopsy.  We do know that there is cancer of some type and he has a lot of things to get through before we are finished with this.

He is fortunate that he has insurance,  this is covering most of his medical expenses but he is responsible for 20% which is adding up quickly.  His outpatient procedures are $350 minimum copayment.  The biopsy is one of those procedures that is coming up fast.  At least we hope so as we want to get this going as soon as possible.

He has an out of pocket maximum of 5,000 for in network expenses, so we know that is most of what he will be billed for covered in network medical bills. He had one test out of network that turns out is a little over a thousand dollars and he has an EPO plan so it is not covered at all.  We don't know what expenses will be non covered.

We are asking for help to pay his copayments. He will also be missing work while this is going on, though he is still working now and will for as long as he is able.

Anybody that knows me knows that I would do anything for my kids and I will be with him every step of the way and helping all I can. I have to keep working too, so I can help as much as possible.  My kids are everything to me.

His kids are everything to him as well, and we want to make sure he is around to dance at his daughters wedding and see his son at his first high school and college games.  (or vice versa).  This is already very difficult emotionally and to have some of the stress of the financial burden removed would mean so much to all of us, not to worry about the money part would be great.
Any and all help would be appreciated, if you can't help maybe you can share or send on good energy and prayers. We know they certainly can't hurt and the positivity is proven to work.

Thanks again for even reading, I tend to get wordy!

We will update as more results come in and with progress as we go. On behalf of my family we are so thankful to have so many people pulling for us. It is overwhelming at times.

He is a lot stronger than his mama.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
