About three months ago Devin started having pains in his shoulder and groin. He saw a doctor three times before being referred to a hematologist. By this time his symptoms had worsened and most recently he also had swelling in one of his legs. He had a CT Scan, bone marrow test, as well as two lymph nodes removed to determine the type and stage of cancer.

The diagnosis is Stage IV Burkit Lymphoma and the Dr. was surprised he is still able to walk around. It is one of the most aggressive forms of lymphoma however almost 100% curable so we are very optimistic about his treatment. We do like his doctors and nurses at Texas Oncology.

Devin will start Repoch chemotherapy on Monday (unless the meds come in Sunday).. He will have to be hospitalized at Clear Lake Regional for five days at a time with two week breaks in between. Each time he checks in the hospital he will get a spinal tap to check for lymphoma in the spine or brain. If the test is negative then he continues to get the spinal tap once every three weeks. If the test is positive he will have a spinal tap twice a week. During those two weeks off he will have to administer a shot daily in his stomach and do two blood tests a week. He will eventually lose his hair.

Once he starts chemo his immune system will be extremely low and he cannot be around anyone who is sick, public restrooms or large crowds (without a mask).

Devin hates needles, pain and the site of blood so this is a challenge but he is being a good sport and hanging in there. Thank you all for the prayers! We ask that you continue to pray for his peace, little pain, and healing during this process!

Devin is on a cancer journey and in the meantime he and Lizzy have a six month old baby girl Karmen they take care of. Devin will not be able to work during his treatment and Lizzy is working double shifts at Gringos to help pay their bills. There will be too many medical bills to imagine at this point. This money will be spent for medical bills or for rent and utilities for Devin and Lizzy. Thank you and God Bless! Kessler's and McKinzie's
