Hello everyone, I am Devin's mother and this is his story. On Monday, March 25th, I received the worst phone call any parent could receive, yes that one, the one where a stranger tells you that your child was in a very bad motor vehicle accident and is in the ICU at the hospital. Of course my heart sank but we are very lucky and extremely happy he is still here with us today. We have been very blessed and thankful for a ton of prayers, well wishes and speedy recoveries from so many family and friends. However, the accident left him with a broken hip, broken upper leg, torn meniscus, dislocated knee, and a severed tendon in his hand that all required major surgery to repair. He spent 14 days at VCU Medical Center, had a blood clot therefore a filter put in place as well. He's been through a lot and now that he is discharged, he still has a long road to full recovery ahead. He is an electrician assistant, looking forward to going to school in the fall to become an electrician but that is on a temporary hold for now because he cannot put any pressure on his leg for 3 months. He will then have to undergo several months of physical and occupational therapy. Devin will not be able to work at least the next 4 months, which is really frustrating him because he keeps saying he just wants to work! His dad, who is a local police officer, and I are trying our best to assist him but the bills will be overwhelming. So many people have asked us if they can help in any way or donate towards his recovery so I am starting this fundraiser to allow friends and family the capability to do so if they so wish during this difficult period of time. Any amount will be greatly appreciated and will be used for out of pocket medical bills and living expenses. This is only to keep him going until he's fully recovered and can return to work and will be taken down once he is able to do so. I would greatly appreciate you sharing the link as well. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Andrea.
