Development of Mahamevnawa Monastery Winnipeg
Donation protected
Mahamevnawa Monastery in Winnipeg was established in year 2015. Initially, we started serving the community from a temporary facility and we moved to the current location at 2610 St Mary’s road in 2017. Since then, we have been conducting meditation programs for larger groups (over 100 people) in downtown Winnipeg and for small groups at St Mary’s facility. Please visit our website for additional services and programs offered by the Centre in other locations.
To support the meditation programs, we have recognized the importance of enhancing the in-house meditation facility including full services (rest rooms, entrance with disability access, etc.). This allows us to serve the community with more programs and services including the facilities for people with disabilities. As per the building code and by-law (City of Winnipeg) requirement, this development requires a series of approval/development processes (Zoning, planning approval, etc.) described below.
Zoning, Planning and Permits
We are happy to announce that the zoning approval has been granted subjected to the completion of the development by Nov 2023. Development permits have been approved. We are planning to start the development in April 2021.
New Facility
An overview of the proposed plan is shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2.

We are Accepting Donations
The total estimated development budget is $280,000 and the provincial government has also supported the project providing a grant of $75,000.
We are in the process of pursuing more funding opportunities including individual donations.
We would highly appreciate any donation towards the development of the property.
Tax Receipts
We are a registered Charity in Canada since 2016. For any donations more than $20, tax receipts will be issued.
