Fund Dementia Music Sessions with Sounds Joyful, Glastonbury
Donation protected
Have you ever stopped to wonder why we segregate people in our community based on their health condition or age? For example, why do people living with dementia have to have their own singing group which is separate to people of any age experiencing loneliness? Why can't younger people with poor mental health be welcomed into a group with people with learning disabilities or Parkinson's Disease?
At Sounds Joyful, we provide inclusive, joyful and uplifting music-making sessions which are open to everyone including people living with long-term physical and mental health conditions such as dementia and depression; those with physical and learning disabilities; young people from local schools with additional needs; anyone working in a caring role; and people of any age experiencing loneliness.
We create a space for people to make meaningful connections, celebrating the rich tapestry of ages, cultures and abilities of our clients and focusing on what brings us together rather than what sets us apart. Through carefully facilitated sessions we generate a community that blends harmoniously, creating something truly special which enables everyone to thrive and lead richer, fuller lives.
"Sounds Joyful is like a second family to me. I have formed friendships that I know will last a lifetime.'
KC, Sounds Joyful Participant
Our pioneering sessions continue to be designed and developed through careful research. At this stage, we need to be able to cover our runnings costs to continue to develop our provision with the aim of rolling out sessions UK-wide to avoid the postcode lottery provision of care that is currently offered.
Any donation, big or small, goes directly towards the running costs of our sessions.
