Dominican Republic Relief Trip

Donation protected
I have been selected by Project Helping Hands and Chamberlain College of Nursing as one of 10 nursing students to participate in the International Nursing Service Project. I will be traveling to the Dominican Republic this November to provide medical care and health education to those in need. According to PPH website, “more than a third of the country’s total population lives in poverty, and almost 20 per cent are living in extreme poverty. In rural areas poor people constitute half of the population. The poorest of the poor include Dominicans of Haitian origin living in the border areas. They are particularly vulnerable, and they suffer not only from low incomes and poor living conditions but also from social exclusion.”

This is an amazing opportunity that only comes once in a lifetime. I am honored to have been selected, but need your help making this dream come true. With your donations you will not only help me with my travel expenses, but you will also help buy medical supplies that will be needed in order to provide the best medical care possible.

Project Helping Hands is an organization that not only provides temporary health care, but focuses on preventative health care by providing health education sessions and awareness. Their mission statement is: “Project Helping Hands is a non-affiliated not-for-profit organization dedicated to facilitating culturally sensitive growth opportunities for volunteers to provide health and medical intervention programs for those lacking access; to develop sustainable, locally-run health promotion and prevention programs, and to assist with the basic life needs of the less fortunate in developing nations.”

I hope you will be able to open your hearts and donate to this amazing cause.

Below are two links that describe this trip in more detail, the services we will be providing and how your contribution will be used.
