<div>Full body private laser hair removal currently costs around £3,000-£6,000 and the NHS only offers facial hair removal not full body. The waiting list can take 4-8 years depending on the area of Britain you live in. If we meet our funding goal Siren’s Call Tattooing will create a non profit organisation, buy a professional quality laser hair removal machine, train their staff and offer free treatments to combat dysphoria in the trans and non binary communities.

<div>FAQ: Q: I have no money how else can I help? Share this on every social media you can, plaster it across LGBTQ+ spaces for the community and our allies to see.  Throw it up on your discord servers, send it to your friends, share it across queer subreddits, facebook groups and retweet the hell out of our fundraiser.  Mention us in tiktok and youtube videos. Link us to your local LGBTQ+ Charities and send us to your local news outlets or mps even. Do you work for a corporation that looks for small charity causes to donate to? A: Well first we need to meet our funding goal. Then we will quickly move to get the machine purchased, installed and our staff trained. This should take around a month from when we complete our funding goal.  Once we are set up we will offer self-referrals from our website and on our social media accounts. You can just message us and we will book you in! I suggest you follow us on facebook or instagram @sirenscalltattooing to keep up to date on our progress. We will also be approaching NHS trans health services and other LGBTQ+ charities across the country so we can take referrals directly from them as well as they already have the reach to help us get to the people who need us the most. Q: If I donate can I have priority booking? A: All booking will be done first come first serve, but anyone who donates and subscribes to fundraising update emails will be the very first people to see the dates we will open our books on so you can be prepared to apply.  Q: So who are you? A: I’m Alden (they/them). I’m a tattooist and trans woman who is currently early in my transition. Q:  What is Siren’s Call Tattooing? A: We are a tattoo studio founded in 2021. I wanted to create a clean, friendly and safe space that anyone can use free of prejudice or judgement. Free of the toxic masculinity and male dominated atmosphere that has been a hallmark of tattoo spaces in previous generations. The key values we used when building our business are: Accessibility, Affordability, Inclusivity and Queer Safe Spaces. Q: So where are you based? A: We are just on the borderline between Manchester and Salford near Salford University. We are a 20 minute taxi from Manchester airport, 10 minutes taxi from Manchester Picadilly, walking distance from several bus routes and Salford Crescent train station as well as being right next to the M6 and M5 so we are very accessible by car and public transport from anywhere in Britain.  Manchester is more or less geographically in the centre of Britain, meaning we are well suited for anyone to travel to us from Scotland, Ireland, Wales or England.  Q: How long have you been tattooing? A: I’ve done freelance illustration since 2009. I completed an illustration degree at UCA in 2017 then spent most of the next year doing a tattoo apprenticeship at a shop in Reading, then moved to Manchester just before the pandemic. I spent my time during lockdown keeping in practice by tattooing myself and drawing daily while freelancing graphic design online. After the last lockdown I came out swinging with a business plan and loan to open my own shop that conformed to the values I feel are sorely lacking in the industry. So all in all I’m still near the beginning of my career but I saw an opportunity to use my business for good, and I want to take it. Q: So you’re really going to offer laser hair removal completely free? A: Yep, once we have the machine, the overheads to run it are easily absorbed by our current tattoo business. The client will only need to pay for their own travel to our shop, but this can still work out much much cheaper than paying for laser closer to home. Q: Wait, so you’re a trans women. Is this a scam so you can get your own hair lasered for free? A: Ironically you can’t perform laser hair removal over the top of tattoos. Being tattooists, all my staff and I are all very heavily tattooed, meaning none of us can actually benefit from the machine ourselves. All of our staff here are neuro-divergent and/or LGBTQ+. This is purely something we want to do to give back to the LGBTQ+ community. Q: Does laser hair removal hurt? A: It feels strange, not painful as such. Kinda like being stuck with a blunt needle that doesn't penetrate the skin. It is much better than a tattoo or piercing and less painful than a sunburn. Q: How are you going to make sure straight cis people don’t take advantage of the free treatments? A: Unfortunately there is no way to “prove” someone is suffering from gender dysphoria. We will take people at their word. If someone lies to get free charity treatment not meant for them, then that says more about who they are as people than it does us, we will just have to trust karma catches up to them eventually.  Q: What happens if you raise more/less than your goal. A: If we don’t meet our fundraiser we will still do everything we can to start this charity so we can fundraise further. Possibly we will have to start with a smaller or less effective machine and continue to fundraise. If we over fund by a little then any excess money will be kept to get replacement bulbs or servicing for the machine and hygiene supplies. If we over fund by a lot then we may look at getting a higher quality machine so we can offer an even more effective service. Or possibly use the excess to fund two mid range machines so we can keep the waiting list short. Or we may decide to use the excess funds for other LGBTQ+ related charity endeavours. Any excess money will absolutely 100% be put back into the LGBTQ+
