Destiny's Battle with Lyme Disease

Let me start by thanking you for taking the time to listen to our story.

This is my beautiful wife Destiny Lynn Villafane. She is the love of my life and the mother to two incredible children Liym and Liv.

She has been battling chronic illness ever since she was 14. Everything from chronic fevers, flu like symptoms, migraines, extreme fatigue, and muscle soreness. Around the age of 17 she had seen countless doctors that had no answers but plenty of antibiotics and steroids that would just make her more sick than before she took them. She graduated high school early with the intent to attend medical school but life had other plans for her.

After the birth of her oldest child she started to experience crippling body pains to the point where she couldn't get out of bed, extreme exhaustion and the return of her chronic migraines. Again doctor after doctor and she received no answers. Her basic labs kept coming back fine. After the first year postpartum she started to feel more tolerable to do every day basic tasks. Still she always felt exhausted, sore and still continued with chronic fevers. Throughout this time she had been given so many different reasons for her ailments. It seemed impossible to get a straight answer about the cause of her illnesses.

After our daughter was born, she again started having these symptoms, only this time much much worse than before. She would have random episodes where her heart rate spikes well over 110 beats per minute. She would lose feeling in her hands and experience intense brain fog where she would be unable to speak or put together full sentences, disassociation, joint pain and many other crazy unexplained symptoms.

We finally realized this was not prolonged postpartum issues and established with a doctor in our local area. She immediately requested tests for MS. Multiple sclerosis was ruled out. Shortly after that her doctor retired. Leaving us again, with no answers.

The day came where she was unable to pick up our daughter and knew that she could no longer live this way. She ended up in the hospital to find out she has a 13mm cyst on the pineal gland of her brain. They referred us to a Neurosurgeon where brain surgery was on the table. After many specialists they decided to monitor it MRIs for growth. But again left with no answers as to why she feels this way almost everyday of her life. They told us the cyst is not causing her symptoms.

After almost a year and half of constant appointments with various doctors and specialist we finally received a diagonsis. As of 3 months ago she has been diagnosed with over 9 different strands of Lymes Disease and multiple co infections such as Bartonella and Babesia. Finally an answer to all the various symptoms she has experienced for the majority of her life. However this has been such a long road and her current doctor still doesn’t have a treatment plan in place. She was also diagnosed with Lupus so that is their main focus right now. After much research and opinions of other practitioners we truly believe if the Lyme was treated the Lupus would not appear on her blood work.

It is now causing seizures and the doctors will be monitoring her with EEGs, This is what prompted us to create this account because it seems like the longer we wait for treatment the worst this dis ease gets.

Since being diagnosed with Lyme disease she has been nothing less than an inspiration and a proactive member of the Lyme positive community. As a certified holistic health coach, She has focused on being a light to others who have been affected by Lyme disease offering hope to those who may feel lost and alone. She has not allowed this disease to defeat her and inspires so many to continue to stay strong in the face of their dis-ease.

I have created this GoFundMe page to help us raise enough to cover her Lyme disease treatments and recovery. This journey has exhausted us financially and we haven’t even begun Lyme specific protocols. Many of you reading this may know that Lyme treatments are not covered by medical insurance. For the past two years we have been juggling almost $1000 per month to keep medical insurance on Destiny so we can find answers. As you can imagine it was very shocking to know it will not help us move forward. I know that any donations made towards her recovery is a blessing and a gift from God. I truly believe that when we cast all of our cares onto God that all will be made well and the means to reach her recovery will manifest itself. Words cannot express our gratitude for any amount of help we receive towards her road to recovery.

I love my wife more than words could ever describe. I pray everyday that the pain and burden she experiences on a daily basis would be lifted from her. My children want their mommy back and I just want to see a smile on her face again. The smile I fell in love with all those years ago. I know that through love and faith in God our prayers will be answered.
