Desperate Need - We Have No Water

My family and I are in a desperate and seemingly hopeless situation. I have no place else to turn but to Go Fund Me for help. It is our deepest prayers that God will help us out of this circumstance by the kindness and generosity of people like you. There is simply no other way for us. Please read my story and if you can, please help us. We have nowhere else to turn.

I am 59 years old and my husband of 30 years is 75. We are both in very poor health. I have COPD, two forms of crippling arthritis and fibromyalgia. My husband has arthritis, COPD and we have recently detected a lump on his back where he is having severe pain. I am worried sick about it and am hoping he can get an appointment with a doctor soon as it does not look good. He walks with a cane and is prone to falling. Both of us are on a lot of different medications which is very costly. We have two special needs young adult children. Our son is very high functioning but has Aspergers Syndrome as well as ADHD, OCD and Tourettes Syndrome. Our daughter was born with a very rare genetic disorder called Cri-Du-Chat (also called 5p minus). She too has OCD and Tourettes. Thankfully neither of my children curse with their Tourettes, they only have unusual vocal tics.

We have lived below the poverty level for the past 6 years since my husband retired.  We live on a very small fixed income and there is never any leftover money even for emergencies.  We always run out of money and food before the next month and struggle for everything. We do not splurge on ANYTHING. We have not eaten at even a fast food restaurant in over 6 years as there is simply no money for such things. We do not have heat in winter as we cannot afford the gas so we use small ceramic heaters and dress warmly. We do not have cable tv and other things some folks may take for granted. To us those are luxuries.  Every bit of money we get goes to our power bill, food, doctor bills, medicines and the like. Only what we MUST have and even then there is never enough. Even toilet paper, toothpaste and things like that are difficult to get and make last until the following month. Every single bit of money is earmarked for what we must have and we often do without many things including medicines we are supposed to take. It has been so very difficult to live this way. The anxiety and depression are sometimes overwhelming. It affects all of us. We live in constant fear of something happening that we cannot afford and now it has happened. 

We live in a semi-rural area and get our water from a well. A week and a half ago our well pump burned out. It is over 20 years old and has lasted longer than the plumber said it should. At first, we hoped it was simply the switch but after having it replaced we were told that it was the pump itself that has gone bad. We have a deep drilled well  (not a dug well) and pumps for it range from $2,000 to 2,500. We have no water at all and cannot bathe, flush the toilet or cook and wash dishes or clothes. For the past week, we have carried buckets and jugs of water from my sister's house to flush the toilet and she has allowed us to shower there every few days. Tomorrow I will have to spend money I do not have to go to the laundromat to wash clothes.  We bought hand sanitizer and throw away plates, cups, and silverware and are eating things we need only heat in the microwave as we cannot wash dishes or use water for cooking.  It is very difficult as you can only imagine especially not being able to flush the toilet or shower. For us, it may as well be 2 million dollars as there is no money even to get another repairman to look at it. I had hoped it could be repaired but was told it was not possible.

We have no family left except my sister and she is in no position to be able to help us financially. She is a blessing to us allowing us to shower every few days and haul buckets and jugs of water from her house.  I do not know what we would do without that. I have prayed so hard about this and there is nothing I can do but ask for help. It is difficult to ask and it is embarrassing to admit our circumstances. I have always been a very private person and it is hard to allow others to know how difficult our financial situation is. We struggle by every month, always running short of what we need. My son and daughter are in great need of dental care and there is no money for a dentist. They will most likely loose teeth due to our inability to get dental care. We do not even have health insurance much less dental insurance. 

Any donation of any amount will help. I know it is a lot of money but my family is praying that there will be people who are willing to help. It is our only hope.  You will never know how much you can change our lives. We feel hopeless with no place to turn. The stress is so great that we live so close to the edge all the time but now it is overwhelming. Please help us if you can.


Also, can you share this page on your social media accounts so more people can read it?  I can share this only on Facebook as I am not on other social media sites and I do not have a lot of friends as some do. I do not even have a computer myself but borrow my sons when needed.  The only reason we have internet is that my daughter is homeschooled and we use it for that. She is in her last year of school. Please help us by sharing our story wherever you can. The more people who see my situation the more I may reach some who can and will help us. 

Finally, if you are a prayerful person, will you please pray for us? We have a great need for prayer for our water situation as well as our dental and health issues. I live on constant prayer and I know God will not forsake us. I am weak and worry but am holding onto my faith that somehow God will see us through this. I hope you will be an answer to our prayers.
