Help us build desks for kids

UPDATE: We hit our goal of 500 desks, so the desk goal has been increased to 1000. With adjustments to the cost of building desks (lower), we've increased the fund goal to $20,000 to make way for 1000 desks!Families are having to adapt to their kids getting an education from home due to the impact of the Coronavirus. With this change comes a critical need for affordable desks. There are a large number of families that can’t get desks for their kids to study at home and this leads to a tough learning environment for kids who are already trying to move forward in new, difficult, and stressful learning conditions. With the massive shift to at home learning, desks are often out of stock, increasingly overpriced due to demand, and many families that have multiple children simply can’t afford the cost of buying desks for each of their children. Chai Hansanuwat is a software engineer and carpenter who was recently laid off from his technology job and has been building desks for children in need and also creating a network of other carpenters willing to donate time and supplies to help get more desks built. Chai and his fellow builders have an immediate need to build 400-500 new desks for children and we are asking for your support in helping to fund this effort. Each desk costs between $20-$25 depending on materials and supplies. As a result, our goal is to raise between $10,000 and $12,500 dollars. In other words, if you donate $20-$25, you are buying one desk for a child who needs it. No donation is too small, and we appreciate any help you can give.
