UPDATE 08/2020: Désirée Gibbon was brutally murdered in Montego Bay, Jamaica, on the Thanksgiving of 2017. She was beaten and then had her throat slit ear to ear decapitating her. Her body was dumped in the bushes of an abandoned road. The search for justice is ongoing. This year, we will spend another birthday without Desi on August 13th.
To date, we still have no answers, no arrests, no justice. We know that there were two DNA samples taken from Desiree's body. One male and one female. There have been several people questioned by the police but no one taken into custody. There have been 5 DNA samples taken from various people with no alledged matches. However, the Jamaican athorities are unwilling to share any copies of the results with us. The FBI will not assist us despite the amount of key assistance the United States gives to Jamaica to counter violent crime and transnational criminal activity. Desiree was an American Citizen on vacation. We need answers. We need closure. We need peace.
We greatly appreciate all those who have donated and shared our story and campaign. Our goal will not end until those responsible for killing Desi are held accountable!
