Desirae was in a rollover Accident

Donation protected
On Wednesday, September 12th, 2018 at about 6pm, Kingman Police investigated a one vehicle rollover near Airway Avenue and Prospector Street. Officers arrived and found a blue 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe with damage. The 18-year-old male driver and 18-year-old female passenger (Desirae Walker), had been ejected. The vehicle’s speed was a factor in the accident. When the car switched from asphalt to dirt road, the vehicle lost control, flipped, and Desi was ejected out the window. Witnesses nearby at a school football game saw Desirae ejected 30 feet from the vehicle. Desi was not wearing a seatbelt, but if she would have had it on, there was a possibility of death from the rolling. When emergency medical technicians and police arrived, Desirae was in a lot of pain and was telling them she did not want to die. Desirae was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center, where her mother, Chrystal Walker, rushed to her side. The injuries sustained were so severe, Desi had to be transported by Flight For Life to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. After being flown to Sunrise, medical staff decided better care could be offered at University Medical Center (UMC) in Las Vegas. There, it was concluded that Desirae’s injuries consisted of a puncture in her right lung, a left bronchial injury, fractured ribs on her right side, a large laceration on her right knee, severe injury to her left pulmonary artery at her collar bone, and a C7 spine fracture. Desirae was put on life support with a ventilator. At that time, they were told the worst-case scenario was she would pass away. The second was she would leave without a lung and an arm. Right away, family and friends were informed. Her bronchial injury is very uncommon and requires special equipment as well as experienced professionals. Family immediately found ways to get to Desirae’s side. It has been a very difficult situation for everyone, but most importantly, for Desi. Chrystal and Jason (parents) live in Kingman, Arizona with Desi. They have missed work to care for Desirae, making sure someone is constantly with her. Living two hours away has been stressful for her parents while they continue to nurture Desirae and try to juggle home life. Neighbors have been amazing with their continued help of taking care of the three dogs and Desi's new hamster. We know money is tight for a lot of people, but if you can make any donation, it would mean the world to this family in recovery; one less stress to think about. All the money that is raised will go to her medical expenses. At the very least, please share this campaign with family and friends. Everyone’s prayers and good energies mean the world to Desirae and her entire family. Desi has a very long road ahead of her, and she is experiencing a lot of pain. Thank you so much for reading Desirae’s story. Please share. We will try to update daily as we hear from the doctors. Much love and respect.
