Hello! My name is Michelle Lutz, and I am the head coach of Desert Mirage High School Swim Team in Thermal, CA. After a tumultuous two years in and out of the pool, I am starting this GoFundMe to help offset the costs of necessary team gear this upcoming season.

 

As we rebuild our swim program, we ask for donations by February 28, 2022 to help purchase swimsuits for our swim team ($65 x 45 swimmers= $2,925). Unfortunately, we cannot fundraise as we usually do each year with on-campus festivals, snack bars, or hot dog sales and are hoping to connect with people looking to help sponsor the DMHS swim team.

 

The Rams student-athletes are exceptional people living in and around the Mecca/Thermal areas. Their homes are surrounded by vast agricultural fields and hardworking, passionate people who never ask for help. The average total income of farmworkers' families is between $20,000-$24,000 per year. It seems unethical to ask a family to either keep the lights on or pay for their student's swim gear. Each student should participate in swim meets, standing tall, proud to wear their swim team uniform with pride!
