this is always an overwhelming and humbling experience. As we are all going through it due to the impact of Covid-19 as well as the variants and the issues that have come along with that, I am accepting that I am no exception in needing support. It has already been a difficult journey keeping things together. I’ve been doing my best to maintain my composure and optimism, taking on different types of work and being flexible to the changes as they arrive, but admittedly it’s been wearing off. I come here today asking those that are in the position to, financially, for support.
as of Tuesday 8/31/2021: the landlords of the place i’m staying at has sent a 3-day notice to vacate the premises. while we are in the process of taking legal action (as this is the first notice of any kind relating to housing), and finding immediate relocation, we are not in the financial position to make such a move in the allotted time and are awaiting responses on which actions to take in the meantime. The owners have been neglectful with fixes, shady and inconsistent with communication such as showing up unannounced without a prior vocal or written notice , and have had people watch us. in between the time of them being legally required to make the necessary fixes, they have transferred ownership to someone else who seems to be familiar with their practices of being the owner and is assuming control with the same methods.
I am a freelance writer as well as a published author of a poetry book called MariGold , released December 2016, the support that followed was immense and transformative for me. But still working through chronic pain and fatigue due to fibromyalgia, makes it difficult to have consistent work along with medical coverage in consistent flux. with the pandemic creating more uncertainty than normal, I often find myself suspended in time. As a freelancer, my schedule is surrounded by how much work I can find and my ability to execute it at a timely manner. But again this has become increasingly difficult and I find myself humbled by the stagnation from spreading myself thin to make ends meet, and now with housing in jeopardy, it creates more issues.
To be quite honest, i’m not sure what amount I need, I just know this will help with delays, supplies, but ultimately survival.
I promised myself that I would not continue to suffer in silence. i’ve held my tongue and I have endured deep stress doing my best to stay afloat. i’m removing shame from my body.
