Derrick's Cancer Story

On September 13, 2017 our very dear friend Derrick was diagnosed with Stage 2a Esophageal Cancer. For those of you who know him, you know that he is an extraordinary human being. He is fun, loving, and strong and always puts him friends and family before himself.
Derrick spent the past 11 days at Phoenix Cancer Center for extensive testing. He now has a long road ahead of him. Derrick will have 28 days of radiation, during that time he will have chemo treatments once a week for 4-5 hours at a time. Once that’s done he will let his body heal for about 6 weeks and then undergo surgery. Surgery will consist of removing the bottom part of the esophagus and then stretch the stomach up and reattach it to the esophagus.
Derrick will start his treatments on October 16th in Phoenix. During his battle, Derrick will be unable to work. Some of his medical expenses such as hotel costs while he is in Phoenix are not covered, and with the everyday necessities of life, money will get tight.
Derrick is one strong dude and will get through this. He has always been there to support anyone; helps fundraise for others and would give the shirt off his back if needed.
Now, it's time that we send back some of that love and support to Derrick. Anything you can donate will be truly appreciated.
