Derek's Fight Against Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer

As many of you may know, Jessica recently broke her ankle in three places. She spent nine days in the hospital recovering from the surgery and the pulmonary embolisms that followed. During her stay, Derek had to give her news that no wife wants to hear - he has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

For those of you who know Derek, as we do, you know he’s going to face this head-on. In Derek’s own words, “it’s time to put the gloves on for a fight.” Derek, we’re here right beside you and ready.

We have decided to start this GoFundMe to help alleviate some of the financial burdens that will come with Derek and Jess both being unable to work. These funds will go to help them make sure the mortgage is paid, that there is food on the table and give them the peace of mind they need to focus on their health and healing during this difficult time. We implore you all, if you’re able, to help Derek and his family with this monumental battle he is about to embark on. This is going to be the toughest fight of his life, and every little bit will help.

How do you describe a person that has given so much of his life to help bring others up and to help them in times of sorrow, or need? Honest, loyal, loving, caring and supportive are a few words to describe this man. If you have been fortunate enough to know Derek like many of us have, you know this to be true.
