Deputy Sheriff in need
Donation protected
A Deputy Sheriff and protector of the peace needs our help. Deputy George (Mike) Jones, a current 20-year veteran of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in Indianapolis, Indiana, a former 6-year Army veteran who served in Korea as a military police officer, and a former constable for 4 years with the Perry Township Constables Office, has fallen on hard times.
On May 26, 2017 Deputy Jones was diagnosed with a vision threatening eye condition that flooded his Vitreous Humor (an inner working part of the eye that filters light through its “jelly-like substance to the Retina) with blood. Due to the damage, Deputy Jones has lost most of his vision in both eyes and is unable to work his full-time job at Kroger and is currently on medical leave from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, quarantined to his home. Anyone who knows Deputy Jones, knows that he is having a hard time not bringing in the bacon under his own free will and power. Deputy Jones has been off work for the past 3 months and has been attempting everything in his capability to get back to the job(s); so much so that when the doctor made a remark that if Mike sleeps sitting up it may help drain the blood in his eyes a little faster... So Mike began sleeping in his lazy boy recliner. With an unknown prognosis and impending surgery to hopefully correct his eye condition, Mike will be off work for many more months to come. Unfortunately, the financial strain has become so much that Deputy Jones will be forced to resort to paying bills this September 2017 with credit cards.
Anything can help and everything will be appreciated. Let’s get to work as soon as possible and help a protector of the peace focus on his recovery and not on if he will have food on the table this month. As Mike's Sergeant and responsible for his well being, I, Sgt. William Fortune, ask that everyone help with anything they can.
