Rick Fontaine is a Deputy Sheriff with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office in Corvallis, Oregon. Last week he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer, glioblastoma, which has minimal treatment options and a current survival timeline of less than three years.
Rick has been married to his lovely wife Angie for eight years and together they have a beautiful six and a half year old daughter. Rick has devoted 25 years to serving & protecting his community. During this time he has served as a reserve Deputy, marine Deputy, Detective, and field training Deputy. Rick has been looking forward to retirement and greatly enjoys fishing and crabbing with his family.
While this has been a shock to everyone who knows him, he remains in good spirits. Rick is living each day to the fullest, moment by moment, and is set on making the most of the time he has with his wife, daughter, other family, and friends.
Our agency is a small, close-knit county sheriff’s office, and we know that the most important thing in Rick’s life is family. His law enforcement family would like to send him, along with his family, on a trip to remember to Disneyland in California. This diagnosis has effectively shortened Rick’s ability to provide the memories and experiences he planned on sharing with his wife and daughter. Although it may be impossible to give him time, we can collectively provide the Fontaines the opportunity to fulfill some long term plans and wishes on an accelerated timeline.
We greatly appreciate any help and support we can get in sending Rick and his family on an unforgettable vacation where they can make lasting memories. If everyone can give a little, we can achieve a lot. Any additional funds raised will go directly to the Fontaine family to support them with on-going care and medical costs along the way.
