Our son Denzel is 7 years old joyful boy. He is an important part of the family. He was diagnosed with large brain tumour on 5th October after short sickness. The tumour is located in Parietal Lobe within Thalamus area. He was admitted to Saint Georges Hospital in Tooting and undergone operation on 10th of October. After the operation, the doctor said only 95% of the tumour can be removed due to is location.
Denzel will soon be transferred to Royal Marsden Hospital where he will have conventional treatments encompassing a combined radio therapy and Chemotherapy. While the radio therapy will last for up to 6 weeks’ maximum, the chemotherapy will last for a one year.
While our whole world has turned upside down, we are united to take the battle to this dreadful disease. We know the fight will not be easy however, we are determined to fight all way to win.
We have been advised by dieticians that while conventional therapy will do its job, we will need to open second battle front against this tumour. The second battle front must include ketogenic diet.
Cancerous tumour cells feed themselves on glucose to raise their energy to spread and cause damage, so cutting out glucose & glutamin from Denzel diet will push these cells to starve themselves to death. Selective Ketogenic diet for his age in combination with conventional therapies will play substantial role by preventing not only the tumour to reoccur but could starve the tumour cells to death.
We would like to appeal to family, friends and community to support us in this fight since this is not an ordinary disease, and while we as immediate family will do our utmost, we believe Denzel is just a 7 years old child who deserves to live as everyone. He needs support from everyone to fight this dreadful disease and win the fight.
