A little love for a Denver family

About eight years ago I was paired up mentor an incredible young woman. At the time, she was a sophomore in high school - now she's almost 22. 

She's a person who always has a positive attitude and who has incredible strength - and yet, she's had to. Life has dealt her a fair share of struggle. 

Earlier this year, her mom had a stroke and she chose to quit college to move home and help her mom with rent and assist her as she's working through the healing. Her mom recently went back to work, but last week, she had another stroke and has been in ICU. Soon she'll get out of ICU to go into an inpatient rehabilitation center for a couple weeks. 

As a 21-year-old, my "mentee" is working full-time, and solely managing the household and her mom's health planning. She realizes they won't be spending the holidays at home, but is making a Christmas tree for her mom's room to make this time easier on her mom. 

I know a little extra money is what they need during this tough time when her mom will now be out of work for awhile.  

They have never asked for anything, they work so hard, and they give much to others. They don't know I'm writing this, and probably would ask me not to, but I hope that by pulling together some people to all give a little, it will take away some of their stress, and show them that people around them care during this holiday season.
