Dental Mission Trip - Dominican Rep

This August I have the amazing opportunity to travel to the Dominican Republic with my dental school's Delta Sigma Delta - Dental Fraternity Organization for a week-long Mission Trip. Our goal will be to serve an underserved community by giving them access and treatment to dental care at no cost to them. For many of these underserved people, this will be the very first time, and maybe the last time any of them receive dental treatment. For others, this may be their only chance to relieve a toothache they've had for weeks. Having the opportunity to be a part of this mission trip will award me the chance to treat such patients in need and otherwise serve them with dental care that we often take for granted.
Last year during this mission trip, Delta Sigma Delta was able to accomplish 368 oral surgeries, 310 fillings, 234 cleanings, 27 denture cases, and 8 root canals seeing roughly 300 adults patients and 400 children. All 400 of those children received fluoride varnish and were given proper oral hygiene instruction.
As a second-year dental student, soon to be a third year, an experience like this will give me the chance to truly give back to people in need. With that being said, I am very excited to do my part in treating patients and mastering my craft.
In order to attend this trip, I reach out to you in helping me raise $2000. Any amount will go a long way and will significantly help me get closer to my goal of treating those in need.
