Denny Weis' medical expense

Anyone who knows Denny Weis, knows he is a pretty active guy who loves golfing, gardening, and working on houses. In April of 2017, he noticed that these activities were getting harder for him, as he experienced some chest pain, shortness of breath, and fatigue. After a brief stay at ISJ Hospital in Mankato, he was referred to Mayo Clinic for further tests.
In June, Denny was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and a rare and incurable disease called Amyloidosis, where an abnormal protein builds up in his heart. He underwent weekly chemotherapy in June/July and started to show some improvement, but he is now experiencing significant heart failure as a result of the amyloid and the chemo treatments.
Last week, Denny was admitted to the CCU at St. Mary’s in Rochester and was treated for atrial flutter. After they stabilized his heart rhythm, he was transferred to the Hematology ICU at Methodist in Rochester to try a different treatment for the amyloid. At this point, we are unsure whether this treatment will help in any way, or whether his weakened heart can tolerate it. He is being monitored closely and has entire teams of doctors and specialists working on his case.
Denny’s wife Julie is taking unpaid family leave to be at his side in the hospital, and to care for him at home if/when the time comes. They are facing an unknown amount of medical bills in addition to the expense of finishing a house that Denny had purchased (and gutted) in February to remodel and rent out.
While he is battling valiantly, he and his family are also preparing for whatever the future may hold. We are asking for any support you can give. Please consider donating to help Denny and his family through this incredibly challenging time. All funds will be used toward Denny’s medical expenses.
