Dennis's Fight To Kick Cancer

Donativo protegido
As many of you know Dennis is an extraordinary man, he is loving, caring and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Dennis has spent the last 25yrs. working 50-60 hours a week at Grede Foundries/AAM.

In November 2017 he began chiropractic treatments for hip pain with no relief. They were followed by x-rays and 2 MRI's at which time tumors were found on his pelvic area. He was then referred to the U of M surgical oncology department.

While waiting for his consultation at the U of M with a surgical oncologist we noticed a significant change in his appetite and weight loss. Also during this time Dennis was no longer able to work due to the pain and had to take a medical leave of absence on February 1st, 2018.

February 8th, 2018 my mom, dad and myself went to the U of M to meet with Dr. Chang for the consultation at which time he ran multiple tests. We returned home that evening with no real defined answers only to get a phone call from the Dr. stating that he needed to return immediately due to excessively high calcium level. Dennis then stayed at the U of M hospital until February 13th, 2018.

After multiple, CT scans, MRI's, blood tests, 10 biopsies and numerous Dr visits we received the devastating news that it was cancer. We then learned that it was in his chest, pelvic area, in his right femur bone and his right arm.

February 20th, 2018 Dennis underwent surgery to remove  the tumor on his right side pelvic area and to place a rod in his right femur due to the cancer eating away the bone. Dennis then stayed at the U of M hospital healing until Sunday February 25th, 2018.

March 12th, 2018 mom and dad met with an oncologist at the Coborn's Cancer Center in St. Cloud, MN to get a treatment plan in place.  It was there they learned it was extensive stage 4 small cell carcinoma with unknown primary. The oncologist set up a treatment cycle that is 21 days long which he will receive chemo therapy 3 days in a row every 3 weeks until June 2018. After his first chemo run March 14th-16th Dennis has lost an additional 26lbs. for a total weight loss of 63lbs. since the beginning of December 2017. He has a long and difficult journey ahead of him but, thankfully for family and friends his journey will be a little bit easier.

My family is raising money to help lift the burden of medical bills and every day expenses for my mom and dad.
We want to say Thank-You to everyone for all your help and support during this difficult time. Your generosity will forever be appreciated.
