Denise Kennedy's 26.2 mile London Marathon

Tax deductible
My name is Denise Kennedy and I am running 26.2 miles in the 2019 London Marathon on the 28th of April in memory of Megan,  my close family friend, to raise money for 'THE MEGAN HURLEY FOUNDATION' any donation will help make an impact. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.

Please read about Megan's story & the foundation below:

Megan Hurley will never be forgotten, she was a bright, innocent and caring 15 year old who loved life until it was so cruelly taken away from her, along with 21 others during the horrific terror attack at the Manchester Arena on 22nd May 2017. Those who had the privilege to meet Megan will know what a loving and beautiful girl she was, Megan was well known for her caring nature and loved to help others.

Megan’s parents, Joanne and Mike Hurley have set up the Megan Hurley Foundation to make sure that Megan is remembered in a positive way as the fun loving beautiful daughter she was and the charity will uphold Megan’s strong values to help others, as well as ensuring her name will live on through the charity.

Megan’s parents, Michael and Joanne Hurley, were a hardworking, self-employed family, running a popular local sandwich shop for over 9 years. Their world was torn apart on 22nd May 2017 when they lost their much-loved daughter Megan and their son, Bradley aged 20, was also critically injured in the terror attack at the Manchester Arena.
During the attack Bradley suffered broken legs and multiple injuries and spent over a month at Manchester Royal Infirmary with his Mum and Dad at his bedside. After over a month in hospital Joanne and Michael returned home with their son and dedicated their lives to his rehabilitation, having no option but to close the family business.

To this day Joanne, Michael and Bradley continue to receive support and kind messages and are so very grateful. However, anyone who has suffered a loss will know that there are unplanned expenses and further there is little support for the self-employed. The Megan Hurley Foundation will aim to provide initial short-term help and support to self-employed families, unable to attend work (and therefore have no income), due to the sudden and unexpected loss of a child.  The Megan Hurley Foundation may also provide help and support to other good cause that will benefit children. The Trustees will agree eligibility for those requiring help and support.
