Denise Hurtado Medical Fund

Denise is going to be having surgery for Chiari Malformation which is when your brain is literally too big for your skull. As you might imagine, this is a serious procedure that is going to sideline Denise for a bit. Fortunately, she has insurance, but she is going to be out of work for an extended period of time. My goal with this Go Fund Me is to replace some of the income that she will miss when she is out recuperating.

Here is Denise description of her condition: "Chairi Malformation and Syringomelia condition occurs when cerebrospinal fluid (normally found outside of the spinal cord and brain) enters the interior of the spinal column forming a cavity known as a syrinx. The treatment is brain decompression surgery done by removing the bone at the back of the skull and spine. Then the dura overlying the tonsils is opened and a patch is sewn to expand the space kind of like letting out the waistband on a pair of pants"

Here is Denise's thoughts: "Thank you all so much! Given there are no other complications recovery time is usually 4 to 8 weeks. So given the seriousness of this surgery, I expect to be out of work a few months. I appreciate any and all help as I won't be able to support myself and my daughter.
