I am starting this campaign to help a life long friend. Most of you have know Melissa Finch Geer for many years. She and her children need your help! Melissa is extremely embarrassed and reluctant to ask for help but has no other options. I am hoping many of you will open your hearts and help!
As many of you know. Melissa and been married for 20 years and has two girls Ava (19) and Mercer (15). Melissa and here husband Mason lost there home of 18 years back in 2018. After filing for divorce, Melissa and the girls moved into a rental in Athens Ga and then were evicted for non payment. Melissa and here girls are now homeless. Melissa and Mason just finalized there divorce back in March and to top it all off he has failed to give them any of the court ordered money.
They are in the process of filing for contempt of court for non payment. But to add insult to injury we have recently found out she has to pay money to file contempt charges to get someone to pay you money they already owe you.. nuts!! At this time They are unable to buy food and gas and even basic needs.
Melissa and they girls have temporarily moved down to Glenville GA to live in her mother-in-laws house and try to try and get back on there feet. I am trying to help her moving in the right direction and dig her way out of this mess but she feels hopeless. Unfortunately this is not working well since Melissa has had a hard time finding employment and since Glenville is a small town and covid-19 hit no one is hiring. We are in the process of seeing if Melissa and the girls qualify for Stimulus package to give her some relief but this will take time. I am also helping her apply for food stamps and welfare.
I know for many with the covid-19 this is a bad time to ask for help since many of you are not working but any amount of money would help. She could also use your words of encouragement and prayers. Feel free to reach out to me or Melissa on Facebook.
