Demont Mitchell Medical Fund
A few weeks ago my cousin Demont was in a car accident back home in the Bahamas.
Unfortunately, as he had recently graduated from university, he was not covered under medical insurance.
My family has flown him to Florida to get the medical care he requires, however this is an additional cost.
We are trying to raise as much as we can to ensure that he can be back to full health as soon as possible :)
The total costs are around $200K so anything you can give would be much appreciated!

Demont Mitchell's Medical Expenses
On October 7, 2012 our second son Demont was in a serious car accident near St Albans Dr in Nassau, Bahamas in which he sustained a brain injury. While making good progress after having a craniotomy, three weeks have passed and he remains in a semi coma with limited use of his right limbs at The Princess Margaret Hospital. Given this, we are seeking contributions to cover his medical expenses.
His neurosurgeon in The Bahamas, Dr. Magnus in conjunction with Dr. Kester Nedd, Head Neurosurgeon of Jackson Memorial's Ryder Trauma Center in Miami, FL have recommended that he be transferred to a brain trauma facility in the US in order to promote chances of full recovery. Attached you will find a letter from Dr. Magnus verifying Demont's serious medical situation. We are therefore attempting to have Demont airlifted there as soon as possible.
Unfortunately Demont did NOT have medical insurance. He was caught in the awkward situation where he could not be covered by his mom, Paige's insurance, because he had recently graduated University and was no longer a dependent. Additionally, he had just started work at Baker Tilly Gomez in September, where the required 90-day waiting period had not yet lapsed to allow him to join the plan there. As you can imagine, this is a parent's worst nightmare.
The cost of getting Demont on the road to full recovery includes:

With an estimated one month stay in Hospital and twelve to eighteen months of therapy, the total estimated cost is in excess of $200,000.
