Demone O. Atkins Transplant Fund

Donation protected
Hello everyone my name is Demone Oquinn Atkins and I was born amd raised in a small little town called Beaufort, SC. Thats right I'm a down right LowCountry guy. I am currently a patient on dialysis and have been going on 10 years now. I have what you call End Stage Renal Disease but most may know it as Kidney Failure. This disease for me was caused by years of uncontrollable hypertension also known as high blood pressure. Believe me its no joke. During these last ten years many friends and family have seen me go through the ups and downs, from the numerous surgeries to being on just about every form of dialysis except one. Through it all I kept pushing forward because I wanted to see my niece my pride and joy to grow up and because of the love of God even when I wanted to throw in the towel. People always wonder how I made it through everything I've been through being on dialysis and still smile or come out on top. I tell them its not me its God. Amen! Growing up I've always been athletic, funny and outgoing, more so outspoken. I help anyone that needs it if I can. For the most part I was a very healthy person. So when I found out I had high blood pressure at 22 I was shocked. Then four years later my life completely changed. I remember February of 2008 I was hospitalized for feeling really sick with extremely high blood pressure. It was to the point I almost lost my life. At that point I was told that one of my kidneys had shut down but not to worry because you can live with one kidney. So then the doctors said that they would monitor my other kidney. So I had to come back for routines check ups. Low and behold October of that same year I begin to feel a lot of pain then it got excruciating to the point where I could sleep. So my friends took me to the hospital and low and behold my second kidney had shut down. They told me they were glad I came when I did or would have been dead by morning. Then my whole lifestyle changed. I had to somehow live a whole new life that I wasnt familiar with. I had to do this in order to stay alive. A blind man I met years ago tild me its gonna be rough but you have to make changed and be disciplined if I wanted to remain above ground. That stuck with me. So now here I am 10 years later about to get my life back. So everyone as you can see I've been through alot and this kidney transplant is what I need. I think my time is now. I have been obedient to everything. I spoke with my Transplant Coordinator on March 2 , 2018 and she informed me that she presented everything to the board and they approved me getting a kidney transplant. I was so stoked and at one point held my breath. So as part of Transplantation I have to raise a certain amount to even be considered. $3000 is my goal. This fund is to insure that I can take care of myself after the transplant. It will be used for out of state expenses such as food, lodging while the time I'm there over a 3 month period or so. Plus its fir the many medicines after Transplantation that my insurance wouldn't be able to afford. So my friends and family I'm asking for donations towards my journey to Kidney Transplantation. Any amount is welcomed whether its $1, $10, $20, $100 or $1000. I am greatly appreciative and forever greatful. Thank you guys and God bless.
