Demi is a beautiful young 23 year old who is living with melanoma cancer. After being diagnosed with kidney failure from 6 years old she has been in and out of hospital throughout her life, on dialysis from 2008 then finally getting a kidney transplant at 16 years old. However 3 years ago Demi was diagnosed with melanoma, after having a mole removed sometime later we were sadly told that the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes and breast.
Demi had operations to remove the cancer and was later told it had spread to her liver. Demi underwent a liver resection to remove the cancer. We were then told that Demi had to sacrifice her kidney, which we were so grateful for by stopping anti-rejection drugs to fight the cancer with immunotherapy. Last week we had the devastating news that the scans shown the immunotherapy isn’t working.
This week demi had the news that she had to go on dialysis as her kidneys are beginning to fail, which means demi has to have a central line inserted into her chest to begin dialysis within the next few weeks. Throughout the whole journey Demi has inspired us all keeping her positive attitude, always smiling telling us she’ll ‘be alrate’. Anybody that knows Demi know how important it is spending time with her whole family and her boyfriend Jonny. Before Demi starts dialysis in a few weeks she wants to go swimming and spend quality time with her family. So we have decided to set up this page to help Demi with her wishes and pay for her to go to Centre Parcs, being care-free and spending a few days with the people she loves.
