Help Delores with her Second Emergency Surgery.

Donation protected

Hello to all reading this.

My name is Hannah and my beloved 6 month old puppy is very sick and needs a second emergency surgery. 9/1 she was rushed to the emergency vets and required emergency surgery for swallowing a pinecone that nearly killed her. After that her kidneys started to fail and needed kidney therapy. She responded well to the therapy and surgery and was allowed to come home 9/3. Unfortunately, I had to rush her back to the emergency vets on 9/6 and she is need of another emergency surgery. Her intestines have telescoped inside of each other. The cost of the first surgery alone has maxed out my care credit card and I am struggling with the funds for this second surgery. Anything helps. ANY AND ALL EXTRAS WILL BE DONATED BACK TO ANOTHER ANIMAL IN NEED.

UPDATE AFTER DELORES' SECOND SURGERY EVENING OF 9/7: Words from her vet, Dr. Weiland- "Delores' small intestine (jejunum) was intussuscepted, causing a complete obstruction of her intestinal tract. An intussusception is a condition in which part of the intestine folds into the section next to it. The blood supply of the intestine becomes compromised, and the tissue starts to die. The tissue required removal, so a resection and anastomosis was performed. There was approximately 1.5 feet of small intestine removed. While she made it through surgery, her blood pressure is concerning and requiring further support. We don't always know why this happens, but it can be the result of a parasite or foreign material. In Delores' case, she tested positive for Giardia. Her prior foreign body obstruction may have also contributed."

UPDATE EVENING OF 9/8: Delores made it home but still has a tough recovery a head of her. Delores is resilient. She refuses to give up and embraces each day with love and grace. Delores will be carefully watched these next few weeks. She is even lucky enough to join mom at work!

About Delores Dandelion Smith:

My daughter and I adopted Delores from our local Humane Society when she was roughly 12 weeks old. Our cover photo is actually the first day we brought her home! She is 6 months old and a little bit of everything. All the way from Pitbull and Bulldog to Australian Cattle dog to Chihuahua! In fact, Delores' ancestry was done, and she happens to be 14 different breeds of dog! Delores is a kind and gentle creature. She approaches everything with tender steps and lots of love. She has an odd but funny habit of sleeping in the most awkward positions. She may be young, but she is a fighter! I will continue to update this as Delores recovers.
