<div>This is a difficult post for me, and it is not easy to write. As many of you know I was diagnosed with ALS in April of 2023. ALS is 100% fatal and life expectancy is 2-5 years.
</div>
<div>I have spent most of the time since my diagnosis increasing awareness and raising funds for research but after a long chat with my family and friends, I have realized It's time to ask for help for my family.
</div>
<div>ALS has not only upended our lives, but the financial costs are starting to make a big impact.
</div>
<div>In the coming months, we will need
</div>
<div>*to remodel our bathroom so I can access the shower safely,
</div>
<div>*add a wheelchair lift from our garage into our house,
</div>
<div>*purchase a wheelchair van so I can safely go to appointments
</div>
<div>Along with a variety of other medical supplies.
</div>
<div>However, what truly prompted this post is my progression.
</div>
<div>I recently started to lose my ability to participate in daily tasks. I currently need help transferring, showing, getting dressed, and caring for my personal hygiene. We will need to hire outside help. The cost of around-the-clock care is staggering.
</div>
<div>Many friends and family have implored us to ask for help and I think it’s time.
</div>
<div>So, I am reluctantly asking for help.
</div>
