Defibrillator for CLUB13 boxing gym

Donation protected

On Monday 7th June 2021 our life as a family changed in the blink of an eye!

When Vinnie suddenly collapsed and went
into cardiac arrest whilst training at his local
boxing gym CLUB13 in Margate, Kent. He was put into an induced coma for two days and it
was touch and go as to whether he would
make it. He is off ventilation now and On a
ward at the Royal Brompton in Chelsea
successfully having had an internal
defibrillator being fitted. It’s only week one
and the road to recovery is not going to be an easy one but we count our blessings everyday that Vinnie pulled through and has fought
every step of the way. With positivity the
recovery and rehab period will continue in the right direction.

Cardiac arrest is a serious cardiac event that
occurs when the heart stops pumping blood
around the body. If you suffer a cardiac arrest you will stop breathing and lose consciousness almost immediately. Unless action is taken
within minutes, cardiac arrest will be fatal.

This isn’t about charity but raising awareness of a subject matter that touched our lives and those of many around Vinnie throughout the most horrific week. But also the lives of
thousands of families throughout the UK that have also experienced the trauma of such an
event of a loved one.

In the UK, more than 30,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests occur each year. Survival rates
are just 1 in 10. Early intervention through
CPR and defibrillators can double the chances of survival.

Sadly, UK law does not require health and
fitness facilities to house defibrillators.
Therefore it is imperative that more is done to raise awareness and campaign for legislative
change to ensure peace of mind, improve
survival rates, and prevent the pain caused by the realities of losing a loved one to cardiac
arrest.

We would like to do a fundraiser for a
defibrillator to be provided for the gym after what happened to Vinnie.

We want as a family not only to rais awareness but to say thank you  from the bottom of
our hearts to Andy Morris , Wayne Lintoff and
Mark Anderson for what they did for Vinnie
that evening at the gym and the courageous,
heroic determination to save their friends life. We will forever remember what they did!
Without performing CPR on Vinnie and caring for him doing everything they could until
paramedics arrived and used the defibrillator on Vinnie, the outcome could have been a lot
different.

Effective bystander CPR, provided
immediately after cardiac arrest, can double a victim's chance of survival. CPR helps
maintain vital blood flow to the heart and
brain and increases the amount of time that an electric shock from a defibrillator can be
effective.

Even if you just share this story it gets the
message out and brings it to the forefront of
those that can effect change

All our love Vinnie, Amy  and Freya xx
