First, on behalf of myself and all of Mario Sr.'s children and grandchildren, we want to thank everyone for their prayers, support, and for simply taking the time to read this campaign.
In 2011, Mario Sr. was diagnosed with an incurable deteriorating lung disease called IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis) and given a 3 to 5 year life expectancy. He developed a chronic cough that affects him 24/7 that has deprived his sleep, appetite and ability to be active, even in the slightest of ways. Yet, regardless of his symptoms, Mario continued working at our local steel mill here in Rancho Cucamonga to provide for our family. 40 hour work weeks; never delinquent. He finally had to let go of his position late last year, despite his desire to keep working.
By the grace of God, my father is fighting strong 6 years later. And I cannot tell you all how difficult this road has been for both my mother and father. The hardships, the sleepless nights, the long uneventful trips to the doctor, the anxieties, the fear, the stresses, the pain.. as we helplessly standby, only able to comfort. But God is good.
Mario has recently been cleared for a double lung transplant through UCLA Medical Center with a priority on the donor recipient list. With instructions from the surgeon to be ready at anytime, we are asking for help to cover the cost of his insurance providers deductible, hospital board after the surgery and cost of medicine.
We are very excited for the possibility to see my dad active and healthy again, and we just hope you can share in our excitement as well. A donation of any kind would be an amazing way to show that.
