Deep Yoga: A Strategy for Peace

Imagine a world where we don't fight over resources or beliefs, and where every child is fed, clothed, and cared for. Imagine a world where we view all creation as sacred - the animals, plants, rivers, trees and mountains. Imagine a world where our grandchildren can grow up healthy and happy. I believe it is possible, and that it is the responsibility for each generation to leave the world a better place. Perhaps you share similar feelings.
We have all the technology to address every problem we are facing. Many of us are working tirelessly to help others and to preserve the health of our planet. Yet everyday, there are people who make decisions that cause pain and suffering and endanger our existence. We need a collective raising of consciousness, an awakening to the totality of who we are in order to make a shift to collective sanity.
Scientists researching the brain say that most humans are only using about 10% of our mental capacity. The potential of our human consciousness has been explored by Yogi's and spiritual masters throughout history and has been documented by research. Their brains work differently. They are awakened to the potential that resides in each one of us. Yoga is the technology of awakening to our full capacity. This expansion of awareness creates bliss in the body/mind. People who are blissful will create health and beauty around them. These ancient wisdom teachings, depicted in the sacred sites of India, tell us stories about how to get there.
My name is Sophie Hawkins and I want to do what I can to help address the problems we are facing on the planet. I have been studying, researching and meditating for over ten years to see this film project, Deep Yoga: A Strategy for Peace, come to fruition. I travelled India to learn about the philosophy that is depicted in the sacred sites and I have put these strategies into practice in my own life and that has changed me profoundly.
(Below is me in Bimbetika, India. There are cave paintings over 12,000 years old here. It is in a national forest where tigers roam freely and a guide is needed to keep visitors from becoming lunch!)
The film lays out a plan for raising human collective consciousness based on the ancient teachings from India. My hope is that each person who views the film Deep Yoga will come away with a deeper experience of how we are connected to everything and everyone else - that we are not separate or alone from each other on this planet we call home. Once this essential interconnectedness becomes part of our daily existence, we will access that inner peace and change our lives at the core. We always have the choice to positively influence our world by living creative, expansive, and joyful lives. Now is the time to make it happen.
I am currently out of funds for the project but I'm determined to see it's completion by 2020!
I have spent all of my savings on equipment, filming, and working on the film and donated countless hours of time editing and researching. I even sold a house to finance this dream! That's how much I believe in this project.
The funds will be used to pay for soundtrack production, narration, recording studio producer fees, some video post production, and screenwriting fees. I am very fortunate to have Jocelyn Drainie and Christine Mills currently donating their time and considerable talents towards the project. I am very grateful to have Michael Marucci , music and sound producer on board for the final mixing of the soundtrack and narration.

A portion of the proceeds from the film will be donated to the Isha Foundation for the Holistic education of children (they are doing excellent work in rural India, particularly for girls who have had many barriers to education in the past).
