My Background

I hold both a BSc in Chemistry and an MSc in Drug Design and Discovery. My academic journey has been shaped not only by my passion for science, but also by my personal experiences.

I’ve been inspired from a young age by my grandad, who studied mathematics at university, and my mum, who studied engineering. Their dedication to learning and problem-solving instilled in me a love for science and a deep appreciation for how research and innovation can change lives.

I’ve also been a young carer for my mum, an experience that’s given me real insight into the challenges faced by families dealing with illness. On top of that, I live with autism, which has shaped the way I interact with the world — giving me a strong attention to detail, focus, and a deep commitment to the things I care about. These qualities have driven me toward a path in scientific research where I know I can make a real impact.

These experiences have inspired me to pursue a career in drug development, with a strong focus on cancer research. I want to dedicate my life to helping develop better, more targeted therapies that can save lives and reduce suffering.

The Next Step: PhD in Cancer Drug Research

I have been given the opportunity to undertake a PhD focused on cancer drug research, specifically exploring therapies that could stop or reduce the spread of cancer.

This research represents the culmination of my academic journey so far — and the beginning of a long-term career dedicated to improving cancer treatment. A PhD will give me the advanced laboratory skills, independent research experience, and academic foundation to contribute meaningfully to drug discovery and development.
