I need help, URGENTLY. Let me explain.
2020 Has been an enriching year on a spiritual level. We have all had to be patient and adapt to new unexpected life situations. I feel for those who are struggling with children and large responsibilities.
As someone who is self employed, it has been a big struggle. I am a Holistic Life Coach and Reiki Master. I coach through the use of Custom Astrological Birth Chart Readings and TarotCard Readings. At the beginning of 2020, I was gearing up for a new beginning. I was planning my first class at a space I rented in New Haven CT for Friday, March 13th which was also the first day of quarantine in the New York TriState area. That was the end of that new beginning. It has been a great struggle to get new clients.
Even digitally and on social media, it is difficult. Algorithms and shadow banning is real. I will notice my posts, at times, are limited. I have used social media to contacted celebrities of all kinds with zero response. I advertising on social media - Facebook Instagram and Twitter - with some response. Very little. I have placed ads on Craigslist for Readings with no response. In the past, one of my greatest ways of self promotion was business cards that I would distribute through coffee shops, stores, boutiques, etc. I would also do small festivals, fairs and parties. None of this is available because of the pandemic. I have tried distributing my business card all over the streets of LA - Santa Monica along the beach, Rodeo, Melrose which has had zero response. I have worked at stores Edge of the Woods in New Haven and House Of Intuition in West Hollywood to learn from the public and to connect with people. I have acquire great knowledge from both of these jobs but minimum wage jobs are hard. They take up a lot of time and energy and I do not make enough to cover my monthly bills.
I just recently left Los Angeles, right before the second lockdown. I am in quarantine now in Palm Springs till the end of the month thanks to some good friends. I find myself again in beautiful surroundings yet I am on the verge of total financial collapse. I own $7k in taxes. My car is sitting at a repair shop and needs $2k worth of work before it passes emissions. And my greatest issue of all is that I do not have my own home. Yes, yours truly is homeless. Not in the traditional sense, but all of my belongings are in storage and I live out of a suitcase. I have been living like a traveling gypsy for years going from my sister’s house to friends houses helping them with their children. Yes I am the ultimate Auntie. And I love my nieces and nephews but I need to now inspire them by having my own home. That is why I went out to LA this September thinking the warmer weather climate would hold more opportunities.
I have also been in pursuit of a stable remote job. I have not had any success yet. Constantly filling out applications online, creating cover letters for each application and sending in resumes with zero response. I have been looking under life coaching, wellness, production and content. I am trying to combine my creative background (music industry creative production - artwork, photo shoots, video shoots, content) with wellness. But nothing. I found this amazing job at Calm which is a meditation APP. Chief Content Officer. How perfect, and with my background, I would be great. I have hear nothing yet. I feel like filling out job applications online is like a big black hole.
My struggle with unemployment is real as well. Connecticut unemployment says that I have no w4 on file for 2019 which means we do not want to give you money because you are self employed. California unemployment is a hustle too. Because I have worked in another state within the last eighteen months I have to call them. There are only live human beings M-F 8am to noon. The first day I called 103 times. The next day I called 134 times. No one answered. I gave up.
This is past week, I found a website for freelance work. Upwork. You have to purchase credits to send proposals for jobs. It’s on $1.50 for 12 credits. Most jobs are 6 credits to apply. One of the prospects got back to me yesterday. We set up a chat interview on Skype. That went well, so I was hired for the job. Then he told me he was going to send me a digital check so that I can deposit into my bank and purchase equipment for the job. That sounded weird to me. Turned out it was a scam. Why? Just trying to make money in an honest manner and still you get scammed.
I have no idea where I am going to live or where I will end up. I know that I will overcome this! I know that things will improve but this month / December, I need paying my bills. I need help staying float. I would love to give the world Readings and boost every soul’s spirit but I need to gain access to them.
