Debt, COVID, & Surgery

Hi my name is Aisha Torrez, I’m 22 years old and suffering from a hernia that came to after starting to work too early on after giving birth to my baby girl Leah.

I was on the track to financial stability, finished paying off my car, and Covid hit. I was moved to working from home in February 2020, then shortly after I was let go because of the pandemic.

I gave birth shortly after on March 12th, as much as I wanted to listen to my doctor, I was stressed because the bills piled up and I was being charged late fees here and there. Unemployment and disability were taking extremely long to get back to me and or even access my claims. Ignoring the 6 weeks of postpartum healing I needed, I immediately got a gig bussing tables.

long story short, I collapsed after 2 weeks of work in the middle of my shift due to an immense pain in my stomach. Rushed to the hospital and come to find out that from going to work at 10 days postpartum left me with not one but 2 abdominal hernias. One under my left rib and the other directly on my c section scar!

now I’m beyond stressed, newborn at home, debt inching towards a whopping 7k & a surgery that is very much needed butI’m being forced to pay a copay of  $2,300.00 prior to booking a date because my insurance provider does not cover it 100%.

any help would be appreciated please and thank you!
