Deb Kelley

She's a mother, a daughter, and I am happy to say, my sister.

In early 2017, Deb was diagnosed with obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This condition describes a thickening of the interior wall of the heart that divides the heart’s chambers.  As a consequence, the heart can’t beat effectively. Left untreated, Deb’s days would be quite limited and her future bleak.  This unusual diagnosis was finally determined after several years of doctor and hospital visits, all of which have left an enormous financial burden on Deb and her husband Cliff.

In 2013, Deb and Cliff were married and started a small farm called Kelley Farm.  Deb is challenged every day just to live a normal life. Her fatigue caused by the obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy limits her ability to care for her animals and keeps her home most of the time. Deb starts out every day the same as you and I, hoping it will be a good day and she will feel well enough to manage her house, care for her husband, her children and tend to her farm. Prior to her illness, Deb was also able to assist in the care for our 87-year-old mother, who is blind, legally deaf, and living in a senior care facility. Deb was very active in her children and grandchildren’s lives.

Given the rarity of Deb’s heart condition, the required surgery is not done in most hospitals.  In fact, this delicate procedure involves open-heart surgery where doctors will need to literally shave down the thickness of her interior heart wall so that it regains its flexibility.  This June, Deb will travel to the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio where this innovative procedure will be performed. Without this surgery, Deb will have no chance at a normal life. As she faces the biggest challenge of her life, we can help support her and provide her not only our emotional support and prayers, but our financial assistance as well. I ask for your financial assistance to help Deb to face this battle of her life without the crushing burden of steep medical expenses.

Deb is a caring mom, wife, daughter and kind sister who truly has the biggest heart of anyone I know. No matter how big or small your donation, please know that you will be responsible for making a difference in the life of a beautiful, caring person.
