What happened?

About a month ago Debbie (my mother in law) experienced a set back in the treament of her cancer which has resulted in her having extremely limited mobility. This began as painful musle spasms in her leg. Concerned, she sought out her doctors and during a brain scan they discovered lesions. The doctors were hopeful, however, and felt that they could treat the lesions with radiation while still providing her the chemotherapy needed for her ongoing 14-year long battle with cancer. Unfortunately, the effects of these brain lesions have caused her severe pain which, in turn, has resulted in her not being able to walk. Her loving husband (Vince) and her daughters (Anne & Katy) have attempted to care for her these past few weeks, moving her from wheelchair, to armchair, to bathroom, and to bed, all in an effort to ensure her care and comfort while remaining at home.

Problems

While difficult and painful, they were able to get to the first few appointments. Everyone was hopeful that this situation would be addressed and that life would return to normal. Sadly, Debbie's physical condition deteriorated this past week and she has not been able to get to her medical appointments, preventing her from getting the very care needed to address these life-threatening issues.  Debbie's condition has now gotten to the point where the family can no longer provide the help she needs from home. Vince has had to have the fire department come and help him, no less then four times this last week, to move Debbie because she had fallen.  By Friday, the phone call to the fire department resulted in her being transported to the ER for the 3rd time this year.

What is happening now?

As of today, March 3rd, Debbie is being moved from the hospital to a care facility so she can recover her strength and mobility, recieve her treatments, and continue the fight for her survival. This additional expense, however, has caught the family off guard. Debbie has insurance, but the cost of the added care is well beyond typical insurance coverage. This has left her family scrambling in an attempt to find the money needed to ensure that Debbie can stay and get the support she desperately needs.

How can you help?

This is where I ask you for your help.

Please, if there is anything you can spare to assist Debbie in her immediate time of need, to be put toward her medical expenses, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
