Hi Everyone, my name is Debbie, I am 29 years old and suffer from Stage 4 Endometriosis and Thoracic Endometriosis. I suffered the symptoms of this disease from age 10-26 until I finally received a diagnosis. My symptoms were brushed off by many health care professionals, I was told that this was normal ‘period pain’ and to simply learn to cope. It wasn’t until the symptoms became dangerously severe and debilitating, and began to occur every single day, year after year that I was finally taken seriously. But by then, making meaningful progress has been rather hopeless.
There are so many misconceptions about what this disease is, and how to treat it, not just among society but the health care community too! At first I thought I had a particularly complicated case, and the doctors I encountered were part of a minority. But after connecting with other women with Endometriosis I was shocked to learn, this is a widely occurring, systematic problem. As if its some big open secret that simply hasn’t gotten enough attention yet. Sound familiar?
I have spent 4 years bed ridden, exhausted every single option I was prescribed to take, experimental prostate cancer drugs (Lupron), hormone masking treatments, pain killers, chronic pain programs, failed surgeries by the best that BC has to offer. I have not gotten any better. This kitchen sink approach to Endometriosis has left my body in shambles, and beyond recognition. The truth is, our health care system does not have the capacity to adequately treat me. I cannot continue like this for much longer, the pain and complications I am having to endure- is not humane.
I have applied for expert excision surgery at the Center for Endometriosis Care in Atlanta, Georgia under Medical Director- Ken Sinervo.

I would love nothing more than to use my privilege to help facilitate a change for my fellow Endo-Sisters. But that fight will have to continue on healthier days. Right now, I am at the very end of my rope and need help desperately. Northside Hospital in Atlanta has already offered me a considerable compassionate fee reduction when paying up front. But I still need help to make this surgery happen. My resources and support network have worn thin after years of being incapacitated. I truly do not have any one to turn to any more, other than the kindness of strangers. If you could share this with your friends, church group, within your business or school, any help with this endeavour would mean so much. I cannot rely on the life I formerly had, its going to take a small miracle to make this happen. I need you, to be a part of that miracle.
My surgery date is March 15th, 2018, we must have the surgery paid in full by March 2.

Did you know that Dr. Sinervo is actually a Canadian born and trained world class surgeon?
I am not the first Canadian to have to travel to the US to be treated by Dr. Sinervo . Excerpt below:
It isn't just the speed of access that's different, Sinervo says. The surgeries he performs in Atlanta are more advanced than what's available in Ontario, in part because he performs surgery four or five days a week -- while Ontario docs might get a day and a half because of the rationing of operating-room time.
"That's one of the reasons I didn't go back to Canada after my fellowship in Atlanta," he said.
Sinervo uses a carbon-dioxide laser to remove all of the abnormal tissue to lessen the chance of complication and reoccurrences, something he says most specialists do not do.
